The Different Parking Options at UK Airports – Automotive Blog

In the year 2020, 23.8 million citizens of the UK were found to be traveling outside their country at least once a year. Whether it is to spend their summer vacations or their Christmas holidays, vacations are a must for almost every family living in the UK. While many prefer to travel to unknown and exotic destinations full of adventures, others like to keep it low-key by only visiting their extended family members and hosting a few gatherings together. Spain is at the top of the list when it comes to vacation choices of the residents in the UK, with France becoming the second most-visited country and Italy the third-most. However, planning a big trip can become tedious sometimes. One does not only have to decide the destinations they are going to visit, but they are also responsible for securing their assets in their home country before leaving for their trips. One such hassle is finding a safe parking spot for your car so that you are free of any worry about your vehicle. (Source: finder.com)

Suppose you are going on vacation for two weeks with your family and live in the UK. With the constant hubbub of the cities and the stress at the beginning of a trip, looking for a safe parking site at the airport can be pretty cumbersome. For instance, finding cheap parking at Birmingham airport can be a nightmare sometimes. You carry all the risk of having your car stolen or damaged during the time you are going to be out of town.

There are a couple of options for the safe parking of cars at airports in the UK. However, each of these differs in aspects of their reliability and cost.

Shuttle Parking

Being one of the most known ways of parking cars at the airport, the shuttle parking system is also the cheapest you will find at all airports in the UK. The best part about this type of parking system is that you have absolute control over your own vehicle. You do not have to hand it over to somebody, and you will know exactly where to find your car without the assistance of any other person once your trip has ended. In a shuttle parking system, you drive to the parking lot, park your vehicle in the most feasible spot you can find, and then take the shuttle bus service to reach the airport and start your journey.

Valet Parking

Valet parking is a more convenient option when it comes to parking your car at the airport. You simply hand over the keys to an employee at the valet booth service, get a card, and move on to start your incredible journey. Although valet parking undoubtedly is more comfortable than shuttle parking service, it does have some consequences. Firstly, you may get into trouble finding your car at the airport since you have to navigate for the first time through the airport to find your vehicle. Secondly, you can never be entirely sure of the employee you handed over your car to or the company he belonged to. Over the years, cases have been heard regarding car theft by fake valet servicing companies.

Park and Walk

Park and Walk is an effective method of car parking at UK airports whereby reservations for the parking spots are made prior to the departure date. All you need to do is drive to the parking space, park your car by yourself, and take the company’s private shuttle to reach your terminal inside the airport.

Park Sleep Fly

Park Sleep Fly is another recently developed method of airport parking in which airport parking is given free at the cost of living in a hotel for a night. This way can be handy if you have an early morning flight. You can reach the hotel the night before and spend a peaceful night there. In the morning, you will take a shuttle to the airport, and your car will stay in the hotel’s parking for the duration of the trip.
