But, before you do, make sure you\u2019ve got your winter sun holiday planned and booked!<\/p>\n<p>Nothing beats a week of winter sun when we\u2019re in the depths of a cold, wet winter. It gives you something to look forward to during the darkest days and breaks up the long winter season.<\/p>\n<p>I usually visit the Canary Islands for my winter sun holiday. I\u2019m not alone in my holiday choice as over 5 million Brits visited the Canaries in 2022!<\/p>\n<p>But this year I\u2019m planning on travelling a little further for something extra special and I\u2019m plotting a trip to Mexico. My two choices were Cancun or Riviera Maya, so I\u2019ve been doing lots of research to find out which is best for me.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what I found\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Riviera Maya and Canc\u00fan are two really popular tourist destinations in Mexico, particularly with travellers from the United States and Canada. There were 5.6 visitors from the US and 1.1 from Canada travelling to Cancun last year. The number of British travellers to Mexico rises each year as more and more of us discover what a gorgeous destination it is, and also how perfect it is for our winter sun holidays.<\/p>\n<h2>Riviera Maya vs Cancun<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m going to simplify things here\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Riviera Maya vs Cancun? Which one is better for a winter sun holiday?<\/p>\n<p>The answer is probably going to be Riviera Maya as it\u2019s quieter and less hectic. If you like the vibrant nightlife of Cancun then you may choose to spend 2-3 nights in Cancun and then spend the remainder of your holiday in the beautiful Riviera Maya.<\/p>\n<h2>Cancun<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Canc\u00fan is a city known for its stunning beaches along the Caribbean Sea.<\/li>\n<li>Cancun has a vibrant nightlife, numerous resorts, restaurants, and shopping centres. It\u2019s popular among younger travellers looking to party. Temperatures average 28 degrees C through the winter months.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Picture-perfect beaches<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Those white sand beaches and clear blue seas!
